The
cover letter books you will find here have been researched by us and have received favorable
recommendations from many individuals and organizations we contacted as part of
the research behind this site.
While Amazon.com has become the most popular marketplace for
jobs book purchases (and they
are reliable and offer direct links), we strongly suggest that you start by
searching eBay. Ebay's prices are the best by far and it is also extremely
reliable and very easy to register, even if you're a first-time user.
Below you will find our recommendations for books for your
cover letter writing and editing needs. Depending
on your particular situation and needs, you may want to consider:

Cover Letters That Knock 'em Dead by
Martin Yate
Buy this book from Amazon.com
Martin Yate has done it again with his cover letter book
of his "Knock 'em Dead" series and we chose to profile
his book first on this page despite a few minor
objections from a few readers that the cover letters
were a bit on the stiff side. (Normally, our lead book
has 100% favorable reviews.) In this case though, we
think his cover letter examples are very good and we
advise job applicants that it's better to come across as
slightly "stiff" than as nonchalant or informal.
Cover
Letters for Dummies by Joyce Lain
Kennedy
Buy this book from Amazon.com
If you're trying to figure out where to start when it
comes to your cover letter, this is the book for you. An
easy read with just enough humor to help keep the reader motivated.
101 Best Cover Letters by Jay A. Block and Michael Betrus
Buy this book from Amazon.com
We like this book a lot. The fact that it is endorsed by
the Professional Association of Resume Writers is nice,
but extraneous to our review. With over 20 chapters, the
101 best are neatly organized. While we did state that
we would only include reviews of books we like, we would
like to warn you to beware of books that try to make
things into a numbers game. Therefore, don't assume just
because another book may have more cover letter examples
that it is therefore better. That can be a dangerous trap.
Dynamic Cover Letters Revised by Katharine Hansen and Randall Hansen, Ph.D.
Buy this book from Amazon.com
The Hansens are certainly knowledgeable in the craft of
cover letters and it does show. The books easy-to-follow
layout was credited by many readers for helping them
quickly land new jobs. And, really, isn't that how you
should judge these books at the end of the day?
Dynamic Cover Letters for New Graduates by Katharine Hansen
Buy this book from Amazon.com
This book is
based off the dynamic cover letters revised book reviewed above. It is an
extremely targeted guide for new graduates, however, and covers their particular
concerns about such items as how to highlight internship experience and what you
learned in your classes to demonstrate your value to prospective employers.
